Chamanay Totem – Scenic Performance
Chamanay Totemis a 40-minute scenic performance created for adolescents and adult audiences. Inspired by an interpretative reading of Women Who Run with the Wolvesby Clarissa Pinkola Estés, the work explores myths and archetypes of the wild woman as a symbolic space of intuition, instinct and inner knowledge.
Through rhythm, song and embodied presence, the performers guide the audience on a journey toward reconnecting with instinctive awareness and collective memory. The performance reflects on aspects of the self that have been historically silenced or suppressed, yet continue to surface through the body, rhythm and imagination.
Structured around three interwoven narratives, Chamanay Totemunfolds as an immersive scenic experience. Percussion, voice and movement create a powerful rhythmic landscape that invites listening, reflection and transformation.
Created and directed by Liliana Zavala, the work is suitable for upper secondary schools, cultural institutions and adult audiences seeking contemporary performance rooted in rhythm and symbolic storytelling.
Chamanay Totem is part of the cultural catalogue of Region Stockholm and is eligible for regional cultural subsidy, making it accessible for booking throughout Stockholm County.
